It's impossible to make a list of 1990s supercars without including the Jaguar XJ220 on that list. The swoopy, expansive, and decadent rear-engined coupe captured the imaginations of millions of car fans around the globe, its posters replacing those of the Ferrari Testarossa on many fans' walls even if the overall story of the car itself was a little bittersweet. Regardless of Jaguar's financial health at the time -- we'll blame the recession of the early 90s -- the XJ220 remains an icon, commanding respect at every event and gathering it attends.

Losing our minds for 834 miles on Audi's TDI Challenge

Somewhere outside Flagstaff, Ariz., inside the world's slowest-moving Audi, photographer extraordinaire Mike Juergens and I had endured an entire day of headwinds, uphills, range anxiety, careening trucks, desert-induced ennui, furious cops, the ignominy of being passed by four Toyota Priuses in a row, and the malodorous toxicity of each other's sweat -- which had achieved the consistency of olive oil -- when we finally said, "screw it," and did something we had been explicitly told not to do: we turned on the air conditioning.

R8 Competition gets 30 more horsepower and plenty of carbon fiber

Audi's R8 halo car has been with us since 2006. Since then, Audi has breathlessly reminded us that it has had 45 consecutive months of record sales, nearly the last four years in a row, which really should mean that everyone's driving around in R8s. Correlation and causation, right? (Not at all.) Alas, the R8 isn't long for this world, 8 years old, and both Audi and the world alike must move on to the next great bauble.

Big seller gets biggest engine

If Dodge had its way, there’d be a 2015 Charger in every garage. The fresh-out-of-college kid commuting to his first big job would drive the 31-mpg, $28,990 Charger SE. His 38-year-old brother, with a little more cash in his bank account, also a fan of American sedans, would drive the $48,375, 485-hp SRT 392. And the crazy uncle, who owned a ‘72 Charger R/T would be behind the wheel of the $64,985 Charger SRT Hellcat, the quickest, fastest, most powerful sedan the world has ever seen.
